Supporting Survivors of Trauma using Trauma-Informed Care (2HR)
This training provides a foundation for trauma-informed care. The three E’s of trauma, the event, experience of the event, and effects will be reviewed. In addition, the principles of trauma-informed care from the National Center for Trauma-Informed Care will be reviewed. The psychological and physical impacts of trauma throughout the lifespan will be discussed, including the effects of intergenerational trauma. Mental health disorders associated with trauma, such as PTSD and complex PTSD will be reviewed. A detailed discussion of how trauma impacts the brain will be provided. Given the high prevalence of trauma, techniques, and strategies to reduce retraumatization will be discussed. This course provides an opportunity to identify ways to implement trauma-informed care strategies into practice, including ways to support clients, and families, and create organizational trauma-informed care policies.
Upon completion of this training, participants will be able to:
- Define the 3 E’s of trauma
- Identify the principles of trauma-informed care
- Educate on the impacts of trauma throughout the lifespan
- Determine methods of implementing trauma-informed care practices in client work
This course qualifies for 2 CE hours of Clinical, Trauma, Evidence-Based Practices, and General Skill Building training.
