This practical training helps clinicians move beyond asking children to simply “name the feeling.” Participants will learn playful, visual, and body-based strategies for building interoceptive awareness and emotional vocabulary while respecting developmental differences and neurodivergent presentations. The course emphasizes curiosity rather than correction and shows how to connect body signals, context, emotion, and action. Case examples will demonstrate adaptations for children who become overwhelmed, concrete, avoidant, or unsure when asked about internal experiences.
Upon completion of the webinar, participants will be able to:
- Identify common reasons children may have difficulty labeling internal sensations and emotions.
- Differentiate interoceptive awareness, emotional identification, and cognitive interpretation in pediatric clinical work.
- Apply at least three visual, play-based, or body-based strategies for helping children communicate internal experiences.
- Develop a developmentally responsive plan for strengthening body-to-emotion awareness without reinforcing hypervigilance.
