This webinar explores the presence of unresolved grief in the therapy room—grief that lingers unspoken, unprocessed, or unacknowledged, yet continues to shape clients’ emotional lives, relationships, and sense of self. Participants will learn how grief can manifest as anxiety, depression, somatic symptoms, or relational struggles, and how cultural norms, disenfranchised losses, and developmental trauma can complicate the mourning process. The training will offer trauma-informed and culturally sensitive strategies for recognizing, honoring, and helping clients integrate unresolved grief, using narrative, somatic, and symbolic approaches to make space for healing and meaning-making.
Upon completion of the webinar, participants will be able to:
- Identify common clinical signs and psychological patterns associated with unresolved or disenfranchised grief.
- Describe how unprocessed grief may emerge in therapy through emotional, somatic, and relational expressions.
- Apply at least two therapeutic approaches to support clients in acknowledging, expressing, and integrating unresolved grief.
