A 6-part Clinical Supervision Series adapted from the book “Supervision Essentials for the Practice of Competency-Based Supervision” by Carol A. Falendar & Edward P. Shrafenske

Supervision is now recognized as a core competency domain for clinical therapists and guidelines have been created to facilitate the provision of competent supervision across professional groups. In this clinical supervision competency training series, we consider major approaches to the supervisory practice to include those that are based on theoretical orientation as well as identifying and discussing key issues that typically need to be addressed in the supervisory relationship.
Each series lesson in this series is approved for 3 hours of Clinical Supervision Specific Training, General Skill Building, and in some lessons, Ethics hour will be indicated.

This CSS course bundle issues ONE certificate for 18 CE hours upon completion of all lessons in this course bundle. This course bundle does NOT issue individual certificates for each completed lesson. Please consider purchasing the individual CSS courses if you need to earn certificates for each completed part of the CSS training series.

The learner will be required to successfully pass a quiz for each lesson with a score of 70% or higher and complete an evaluation. The learner can retake the test as many times as necessary to achieve the passing score. Once the learner has completed all six lessons and completed all lesson quizzes and evaluations, the certificate will be in the learner account dashboard for downloading. The learner will receive an email with a link to view the certificate.

Course Format: Recorded Live Webinar with downloadable presentation slides and/or handouts and a required quiz. The learner is required to pass with 70% or higher to achieve the CE certificate of completion. The learner can reset the test until a satisfactory score is achieved.

System Requirements: Firefox, Chrome, Brave, Safari, Edge on any modern operating system (Windows, MacOS, Linux, Android, iOS). A desktop browser is recommended. We do not provide support resources for issues encountered using a mobile device.

Date of Original Recording: Part 1 – December 16, 2022, Part 2 – January 15, 2023, Part 3 – March 18, 2023, Part 4 – June 13, 2023, Part 5 – August 18, 2023, Part 6 – September 21, 2023.

Certificate: At the completion of all 6 lessons, the learner will receive a certificate for all 18 hours/credits. NBCC credits will indicate 14 hours of Clinical Supervision and 4 hours of Ethics. ASWB credits will reflect 14 Clinical credits and 4 Ethics credits.

Board Approval Statements:

NBCC ACEP # 7091, CE Training Workshops has been approved by NBCC as an Approved Continuing Education Provider, ACEP #7091. Programs that do not qualify are clearly identified. CE Training Workshops is solely responsible for all aspects of the programs. CE Training Workshops designates this continuing education activity for 14 Clinical Supervision and 4 Ethics continuing education hours.

CE Training Workshops, LLC, #1770, is approved as an ACE provider to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Regulatory boards are the final authority on courses accepted for continuing education credit. ACE provider approval period: 07/02/2022 – 07/02/2025. Social workers completing this course receive 14 Clinical and 4 Ethics continuing education credits.

Instructor Bio: This series is led by Shannon McCabe, MA, LCAS, CCS, CCJP, CPS who is a multi-discipline masters level professional. Shannon is a Durham native.Her undergraduate degrees are in sociology and criminal justice. Shannon also has her MA in Forensic Psychology as well as a graduate certificate in Substance Abuse Counseling. She started her career in education and worked for many years with gang-involved youth. Shannon also provides Clinical Supervision for aspiring Alcohol & Addiction Counselors and Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialists. Afterward, Shannon spent many years working with adolescents and adults struggling with severe and persistent mental illness, and/or substance use disorder, and chronic homelessness. Shannon offers over 20 years of experience working with these vulnerable populations. Shannon also believes in and strongly supports harm reduction initiatives as well as being an ally in the fight to ensure that our most vulnerable populations are treated with dignity and respect in their journey in recovery. In her spare time, Shannon rehabilitates wildlife and believes strongly in the healing impact of animals in the therapeutic setting.
