Successful Treatment of Teens with Self Harming Behaviors (1.5HR)
Teenagers and young adults are rapidly changing cognitively, emotionally, socially, physically, and sexually. Our digital world creates added emotional challenges for them. Too often young people resort to self-injurious behavior to cope. In this workshop, we dive into the clinical realm of the types of self-injurious behaviors, the function of the behaviors, assessment, treatment approaches, and strategies for extinguishing self-harm with teen clients.
Upon completion of this training, participants will be able to:
- Define the types of self-injurious behavior.
- Describe the functions of self-injury.
- Distinguish interventions for self-injury.
- Summarize methods for collaborating with parents/caregivers.
This course qualifies for 1.5 CE hours of Clinical, Evidence-Based Practices, and General Skill Building training.
