Introduction to Schema Therapy (2HR)

Schema therapy is a therapeutic modality that focuses on schemas: maladaptive ways of thinking that developed in early childhood. The aim of schema therapy is to help the client understand the specific belief system that causes the client to think, feel, and act the way that they do. In this training, you will learn the basics of schema therapy and why it is such a powerful tool for helping clients undo self-destructive patterns and create a new, healthy relationship with themselves.

Upon completion of this training, participants will be able to:

  • Discuss the framework of schema therapy
  • Identify how maladaptive belief systems are categorized in schema therapy
  • Differentiate between various schemas
  • Express how working with schemas can benefit a client

Social workers completing this course receive 2 Clinical asynchronous continuing education credits.

For other board approvals, this course qualifies for 2 hours of Clinical, Evidence-Based Practices, and General Skill Building continuing education training.
