Using DBT in Working with Borderline Personality Disorder & PTSD (2HR)
Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) was originally developed to help people struggling with the symptoms of borderline personality disorder (BPD). Many people with BPD also have PTSD, and vice versa. Although people with PTSD and BPD have different symptoms, they share some of the same problems, such as difficulty managing emotions, interpersonal problems, and a high risk of impulsive behavior. In this training, we explore the origin of DBT and its application to working with clients who are diagnosed with the co-morbid conditions of BPD and PTSD or other trauma (sexual).
Upon completion of this training, participants will be able to:
- Review the history, original purpose, and transition to other mental health disorders of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
- Apply DBT in working with Borderline Personality Disorder
- Adapt and apply DBT in working with Trauma/PTSD
- Implement skills using case-studies and technique practice
This online webinar will provide for 2 ONLINE continuing education hours of Evidence-Based Therapy.
