Course Description

Countertransference is an inevitable part of therapeutic work, yet when unexamined, it
can impact clinical decision-making, boundaries, and client outcomes. This course will
provide therapists with tools to recognize, process, and manage countertransference
effectively. Through self-reflection, boundary-setting strategies, and practical case
discussions, participants will gain greater confidence in navigating their emotional
responses while maintaining professional integrity and therapeutic effectiveness.

Course Format

Recorded Live Webinar with downloadable presentation slides and/or handouts, evaluation, and a required quiz. The learner is required to pass with a 70% or higher to achieve the CE certificate of completion. The learner is able to reset the test until a satisfactory score is achieved. Meet Your Facilitator

Liz Sakatos, LCMHC, LPC-MHSP has over 15 years of experience helping adults navigate toxic family dynamics, unhealthy relationships, and the challenges of anxiety, depression, OCD, and PTSD. She is certiﬁed in Psychological First Aid and trained in Culturally Informed Trauma Treatment, Compassion Fatigue for Professionals, and Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy. Licensed in Tennessee and North Carolina, Liz also has specialized training in CBT for race-based stress and culturally informed trauma.

With extensive experience in clinical leadership, mentoring, and education, Liz has successfully led large teams of full-time and contract providers while collaborating across departments to develop scalable solutions for operational challenges. She specializes in guiding clinicians to elevate their skills, improve service delivery, and create sustainable balance in their private practices.
Originally from New Jersey, Liz has settled in Tennessee with her family. She describes herself as compassionate and understanding—yet direct, with a dash of irreverent humor.
