Description

Radically Open Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (RO DBT) is an evidence-based therapeutic approach developed to be similar to traditional Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). Where DBT would be effective for clients who are reporting issues with being able to control or regulate their emotions or behavior (“under controlled”), RODBT is effective for clients who report issues related to “over-controlling” their emotions and/or behaviors. This training will instill a fundamental understanding of RODBT theory and techniques. We will focus on the difference between DBT and RO-DBT, the theory of over versus under-control behaviors, and some basic practices used in RO-DBT.

Upon completion of this training, participants will be able to:

  • Explain a new biosocial theory for Over-Control
  • Learn the difference between DBT and RO-DBT
  • Describe the RO-DBT treatment structure
  • Learn some of the practices used in the RO-DBT treatment hierarchy

Social workers completing this course receive 3 Clinical asynchronous continuing education credits.

For other board approvals, this course qualifies for 3 hours of Clinical, Evidence Based Practices, and General Skill Building continuing education training.
