Assessing and Understanding The Intersection Between Mental Health and Chronic Pain

$45.00

This training explores the complex relationship between mental health and chronic pain, highlighting how psychological, neurological, and physical factors interact to shape a person’s lived experience. Participants will gain an understanding of the bidirectional nature of pain and mental health conditions, recognizing how anxiety, depression, trauma, and stress can exacerbate chronic pain—and vice versa. The course emphasizes comprehensive assessment methods, stigma reduction, and person-centered strategies to improve functioning and quality of life for individuals living with pain. Evidence-based interventions, interdisciplinary collaboration, and culturally responsive care approaches will also be covered.

Upon completion of this training, learners will be able to:

  • Explain the connection between chronic pain and common mental health conditions such as anxiety and depression.

  • Identify key biopsychosocial factors involved in the assessment of chronic pain.

  • Recognize the role of trauma, stress, and neuroplasticity in shaping the pain experience.

  • Apply evidence-based strategies, including CBT and integrated behavioral health approaches, to support individuals with chronic pain.
