This immersive training explores the therapeutic use of ritual, symbolism, and intentional ceremony as tools for healing, transformation, and meaning-making in psychotherapy. Participants will learn how symbolic interventions can support clients navigating grief, trauma, identity shifts, relationship transitions, life milestones, and existential concerns. Drawing from expressive arts therapy, narrative therapy, Jungian psychology, mindfulness traditions, and multicultural healing practices, the workshop will provide practical and ethically grounded ways to integrate rituals such as letter writing, symbolic object work, memory practices, altar creation, transitional ceremonies, and embodied experiential interventions into clinical work. Emphasis will be placed on informed consent, cultural sensitivity, client autonomy, and trauma-informed pacing.
Upon completion of this webinar, participants will be able to:
- Define ritual and symbolic practice within a psychotherapeutic framework.
- Identify clinical situations in which ritual interventions may support healing and integration.
- Apply ethical principles when introducing symbolic and experiential practices in therapy.
- Develop culturally responsive rituals tailored to diverse client needs and identities.
- Utilize symbolic and creative interventions to support emotional processing and meaning-making.
- Create trauma-informed ritual experiences that prioritize client safety and agency.
