This webinar is designed for psychotherapists who want to deepen their understanding and practical application of values-based interventions. Grounded in the principles of ACT, this training offers a balanced integration of theory, clinical application, and experiential learning. Participants will explore the central role that values play in psychological flexibility and how values clarification can serve as a powerful guide in treatment planning, therapeutic conversations, and behavior change. The training will cover essential theoretical underpinnings of values work in ACT, including distinctions between values and goals, the role of values in motivation and meaning, and how to skillfully navigate values-based work with clients across a variety of presenting issues.

This training is highly experiential, providing ample opportunity for self-reflection and hands-on practice. Therapists will engage in guided exercises, small group discussions, and real-time skills practice aimed at helping them clarify their own values while learning how to facilitate similar work with clients. The experiential nature of the training will allow participants to embody the process they will be inviting their clients into—making it deeply personal, impactful, and immediately applicable. Whether you are new to ACT or looking to enrich your current practice, this training will equip you with the tools and confidence to use values work more effectively in session and help clients live more meaningful, purpose-driven lives.

Upon completion of the webinar, participants will be able to:

  • Define the concept of values
  • Describe how values are integrated into Acceptance and Commitment Therapy
  • Explain at least ten ways in which clinicians can assist clients in eliciting their values
  • Identify the differences between values and goals
  • Describe how to create an action plan for clients that is values-based
  • Explore how to address obstacles to living a values-aligned life
