According to national data, nearly 1 in 3 women and 1 in 6 men experience sexual violence in their lifetime. This training equips mental health professionals with the knowledge and tools to recognize, assess, and respond to sexual trauma across diverse populations. Participants will explore the neurobiological impact of trauma, gender and cultural considerations, and the psychological effects of both acute and complex abuse. The course emphasizes trauma-informed, consent-based assessment strategies and offers practical guidance for working with survivors across the lifespan. Special attention is given to marginalized communities, identity-based stigma, and ethical clinical practices that support safety, empowerment, and healing.

Upon completion of the webinar, participants will be able to:

  • Describe the neurobiological, psychological, and behavioral impacts of sexual trauma on survivors.
  • Apply culturally responsive and gender-informed considerations when supporting survivors from marginalized communities.
  • Use trauma-informed and consent-based assessment and intervention strategies with survivors of sexual trauma.
