This webinar introduces therapists to the core philosophies and practices of Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), a strengths-based, future-oriented approach that emphasizes client resources and small, meaningful changes. Participants will explore the major tenets of SFBT—including its belief in clients’ inherent abilities, focus on solutions rather than problems, and use of clear, collaborative goal-setting—while gaining an understanding of how these principles shape brief, effective clinical work. Clinicians will learn to apply essential SFBT interventions such as scaling questions, the miracle question, ROPES, exception-finding, and problem-free talk. Through demonstrations and examples, participants will practice implementing these techniques to enhance hope, highlight competencies, and guide clients toward preferred outcomes. By the end of the course, therapists will be able to identify key techniques and summarize the value of integrating SFBT into diverse clinical settings.

Upon completion of the webinar, participants will be able to:

  • Describe the major tenets underlying SFBT philosophies and practices.
  • Identify at least five SFBT techniques suitable for clinical practice.
  • Explain implementation of specific SFBT techniques such as scaling, the miracle question, ROPES, and problem-free talk.
  • Summarize the value of incorporating SFBT practices into clinical work.
