It is not uncommon for clinicians to encounter clients who are experiencing shame in various aspects of their lives. Shame, guilt, and self-criticism are critical in quality of life and mental health. Fear can lead to unhealthy coping strategies and emotional distress. This webinar will explore elements of shame common in mental health that may disrupt healthy functioning. Strengthen your skills and clinical knowledge in facilitating therapeutic interventions with clients to end the powerful hold of shame, guilt, and self-criticism. A resilience-growth model will be presented to help your clients develop acceptance of themselves, others, and the reality necessary for the effective treatment of trauma, stress, anxiety, depression, binge eating, substance use, and anger issues.

Upon completion of this training, participants will be able to:

  • Explain at least five core concepts of shame and three examples of shame related to mental health.
  • Discover multiple therapeutic approaches and interventions to address shame with clients.
  • Employ resilience-growth models of shame recovery to enhance coping and wellness.
