This introductory webinar invites psychotherapists to explore the foundational principles and practices of Narrative Therapy, a collaborative and empowering therapeutic approach that views people as separate from their problems. Rooted in postmodern and social constructionist thought, Narrative Therapy emphasizes the stories clients tell about themselves and their lives—and how these stories shape identity, meaning, and possibility. Participants will learn how to help clients externalize problems, uncover alternative narratives, and re-author their stories in alignment with their values, strengths, and hopes. Practical tools and strategies will be highlighted throughout the training.
Upon completion of the webinar, participants will be able to:
- Describe the core philosophy and theoretical foundations of Narrative Therapy.
- Identify how the process of externalization supports client empowerment.
- Apply at least two narrative therapy techniques to help clients explore and re-author personal stories in a therapeutic context.
