Clinical supervision in social work and mental health is when a supervisor helps social workers and counselors develop their skills and practice. The goal is to protect clients and ensure high-quality services. This live webinar reviews nine models of supervision, provides guidance in determining a theory-based supervision approach, and provides an overview of the effectiveness of using various methods and techniques in supervision. The visual, auditory, reader/writer, and kinesthetic or VARK Questionnaire is reviewed to assist supervisors in assessing the supervisee’s learning styles.

Upon completion of this training, participants will be able to:

Review and differentiate between the nine models of supervision and how to choose the best method for optimal supervisee learning.
Review the application and implications of using the VARK Questionnaire to determine supervisee learning style.
Determine a theory-based supervision approach.
Define the rationale for using a variety of methods and techniques in supervision.

Jodi Geis-Crowder, MS, LPC, ACS has a passion for the helping profession to ensure access to care for all. She is also passionate about mentoring, supervising, and training others to reach their professional potential. Jodi has spent the past 26 years dedicating her professional efforts to ensuring that individuals in rural, frontier areas in Northeast Colorado and Wyoming have access to quality, culturally meaningful behavioral health care, and substance use disorder services, delivered by trained, competent professionals. She has extensive training and experience in working in the telehealth model and authored an article regarding transitioning to working remotely and provided support to others transitioning to remote work during the Covid 19 Pandemic in March 2020. Jodi is currently a telehealth clinical supervisor and professional trainer for Volunteers of America Northern Rockies (VOANR). Jodi is a professional watercolor artist, and member of the Sagebrush Artisans and sells her art in boutiques in Wyoming.
