This training course on personality disorders offers mental health professionals an in-depth overview of the major types and categories as defined by diagnostic criteria, including Cluster A (odd/eccentric), Cluster B (dramatic/emotional), and Cluster C (anxious/fearful) personality disorders. Participants will examine core symptoms, behavioral patterns, and underlying emotional and cognitive features that characterize various personality disorders. The course highlights key clinical considerations such as diagnostic challenges, comorbidity, transference and countertransference, and treatment engagement. Emphasis will be placed on general therapeutic recommendations and evidence-informed strategies, including the use of structure, boundaries, validation, and long-term treatment planning. Through case examples and discussion, clinicians will strengthen their ability to assess, conceptualize, and effectively support individuals with complex personality dynamics.

Upon completion of the webinar, participants will be able to:

  • Identify and differentiate the key features, symptom patterns, and diagnostic criteria of the major personality disorder categories (Clusters A, B, and C).
  • Analyze and apply clinical considerations such as comorbidity, treatment resistance, and therapeutic alliance when working with individuals diagnosed with personality disorders.
  • Demonstrate the ability to implement general therapeutic strategies and interventions, including boundary-setting, validation, and long-term treatment planning, to effectively support clients with personality disorders.
