This webinar provides psychotherapists with a foundational understanding of how trauma impacts the nervous system—and how this knowledge can inform more effective, compassionate, and regulation-focused clinical care. Participants will explore the neurobiology of trauma, including the roles of hyperarousal, hypoarousal, dissociation, and the autonomic nervous system. The training will highlight how trauma responses show up in the body and behavior, and how to support clients in building safety, tracking internal states, and restoring nervous system balance. Practical, somatically-informed interventions will be shared, with an emphasis on trauma-informed strategies for healing.
Upon completion of the webinar, participants will be able to:
- Describe how trauma affects the autonomic nervous system and contributes to patterns of dysregulation.
- Identify common nervous system states associated with traumatic stress, including fight, flight, freeze, and collapse responses.
- Apply at least two somatically-informed strategies to help clients regulate their nervous systems and support healing from trauma.
