This training is designed for clinicians who wish to responsibly and effectively incorporate creative interventions—such as art, journaling, movement, storytelling, and symbolic objects—into clinical work. While creativity can enrich the therapeutic process, it also raises ethical questions related to scope of practice, informed consent, cultural relevance, and clinical appropriateness. This training explores how to navigate these concerns with integrity, providing a framework grounded in professional ethics, cultural humility, and trauma-informed care. Through discussion, case examples, and reflective exercises, participants will gain clarity and confidence in ethically weaving spontaneity and creativity into their practice.

Upon completion of the webinar, participants will be able to:

  • Identify at least three ethical considerations when integrating creative activities into psychotherapy, including scope of practice and informed consent.
  • Describe how cultural humility and client-centered care apply to the use of creative interventions in clinical settings.
  • Evaluate the appropriateness of specific creative methods for different client populations using a trauma-informed and ethically grounded lens.
