Aging is a universal yet deeply individual process, shaped by history, culture, and social roles. For many older adults, later life offers opportunities for wisdom, connection, and growth, while also presenting challenges such as grief, loneliness, cognitive changes, and ageism. Clinical professionals in senior living facilities are uniquely positioned to support residents through these transitions with mindful presence, patience, and purpose.
This training introduces practical, trauma-sensitive mindfulness tools and strengths-based approaches that can be adapted for diverse physical, cognitive, and emotional capacities. Drawing from resilience research and culturally responsive care, participants will explore how to integrate mindful aging practices into daily interactions, group activities, and care planning. Through discussion, case examples, and experiential exercises, clinicians will leave with actionable strategies to foster dignity, autonomy, and engagement among the older adults they serve.
Upon completion of the webinar, participants will be able to:
- Identify key developmental, cultural, and psychosocial factors influencing the aging process and their relevance in senior living contexts.
- Apply mindfulness-based tools to support emotional regulation, resilience, and meaning-making in older adults.
- Integrate strengths-based and culturally responsive strategies into care planning for residents navigating later- life challenges.
- Evaluate and adapt interventions to address the diverse needs and capacities of seniors while promoting autonomy and connection.
