Allyship refers to the actions, behaviors, and practices that leaders take to support, amplify, and advocate with others, especially with individuals who don’t belong to the same social identity groups as themselves. There continues to be an increased need for this intention; yet, many clinicians do not know where to start. Navigating sensitive conversations is challenging, but is essential if we are going to move towards equity and justice. In this webinar, we learn how to take small, yet intentional steps toward leaning into the discomfort and learn strategies for starting the work of engaging in meaningful conversations with people who identify differently than you.

Upon completion of this training, participants will be able to:

  • Assess your own biases and privileges and understand how they impact interactions with clients and advocacy efforts.
  • Describe the impact of intersectional identities and ways to support individuals who identify differently.
  • Integrate long-term engagement rather than treating allyship as a one-time or occasional act.
