This creative and experiential webinar invites clinicians to explore the therapeutic power of poetry as a tool for emotional expression, insight, and healing. Participants will learn how reading, writing, and discussing poetry can help clients access difficult emotions, uncover personal meaning, and give voice to experiences that may be hard to articulate in everyday language. Drawing from narrative therapy, expressive arts, and trauma-informed care, the training will offer practical ways to introduce poetry into sessions with sensitivity and intention. Together, we will explore how poetry can be used to foster creativity, resilience, and transformation.

Upon completion of this webinar, participants will be able to:

  • Describe the therapeutic benefits of using poetry in psychotherapy, particularly for emotional processing and meaning-making.
  • Identify at least two ways to incorporate poetry into sessions, including reading and writing prompts.
  • Apply trauma-informed and culturally responsive strategies when integrating poetry into clinical practice.
