This webinar provides a developmentally grounded overview of grief and loss interventions with children and adolescents. Participants will explore at least five considerations unique to youth grief, including developmental stage, family and caregiver influence, trauma exposure, cultural context, and the varied behavioral and emotional expressions of loss. Emphasis is placed on understanding how grief presents differently across childhood and adolescence. Participants will also identify therapeutic interventions appropriate for youth, such as play-based strategies, expressive and narrative approaches, CBT-informed techniques, and family-centered supports. Core clinical competencies—including building safety, engaging caregivers, assessing risk, and practicing cultural humility—will be highlighted to strengthen ethical and effective grief care with young clients.
