This introductory webinar offers psychotherapists a foundational understanding of somatic psychotherapies: approaches that integrate the wisdom of the body into the therapeutic process. Grounded in the understanding that trauma, emotion, and memory are often stored somatically, this training explores how body-based awareness can support healing, regulation, and integration. Participants will learn about key somatic modalities, such as Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, Somatic Experiencing, and Hakomi, and how to incorporate simple somatic techniques into their clinical work. Emphasis will be placed on cultivating body awareness, tracking nervous system responses, and working safely with somatic material.

Upon completion of this webinar, participants will be able to:

  • Describe the core principles of somatic psychotherapy and how they differ from traditional talk therapy approaches.
  • Identify key elements of at least two somatic modalities and their relevance in trauma-informed practice.
  • Apply basic somatic techniques to help clients increase body awareness, regulate arousal, and process emotional experiences.
