This foundational webinar invites psychotherapists to explore the integration of contemplative practices—such as mindfulness, journaling, meditation, breathwork, movment, and self-inquiry—into the therapeutic process. Rooted in ancient wisdom traditions and supported by modern neuroscience, contemplative approaches can help clients cultivate present-moment awareness, emotional regulation, self-compassion, and a deeper sense of meaning. Participants will examine the clinical applications of contemplative practices across diverse settings and diagnoses, as well as ethical considerations and adaptations for trauma-informed care. Experiential exercises will be included to support clinicians in embodying these practices themselves.
Upon completion of this webinar, participants will be able to:
- Define contemplative practices and describe their relevance and benefits in psychotherapy.
- Identify at least three contemplative techniques that can be ethically and effectively integrated into clinical work.
- Apply trauma-informed adaptations when using contemplative practices with clients in therapeutic settings.
