This training explores the integration of photography and narrative therapy to promote self-determination, deconstruct internalized narratives, and support the reauthoring of personal stories aligned with client values. Participants will learn how photography can serve as a powerful metaphorical tool, offering clients new ways to externalize experiences, challenge limiting beliefs, and access preferred identities. Through a trauma-informed and culturally sensitive framework, this course provides clinicians with practical techniques to facilitate empowerment, foster insight, and deepen emotional connection.
Upon completion of the webinar, participants will be able to:
- Explain the role of self-determination in narrative therapy and demonstrate how photography can be used as a metaphorical tool to support client empowerment and agency.
- Utilize photography and narrative techniques to assist clients in deconstructing internalized assumptions, beliefs, and problem-saturated stories about the self.
- Guide clients in reauthoring personal narratives that align with their identified values, strengths, and preferred identities, using photographic imagery to enhance symbolic meaning and emotional connection.
