When couples hit a breaking point, clinicians are often called upon to repair trust, rekindle connection, and navigate intense emotional fallout. This training explores three of the most common and complex issues that bring couples into therapy: infidelity, sexual incompatibility, and emotional disengagement. Grounded in attachment theory, sex therapy principles, and systemic family work, this webinar provides practical tools to help clinicians assess readiness for repair, set realistic expectations, and guide couples toward honest, sustainable reconnection—even when separation may also be on the table.
Upon completion of this training, participants will be able to:
- Differentiate between acute and chronic relational crises and assess whether couples are in a repairable state or need stabilization before deeper work begins.
- Identify the emotional and behavioral patterns common in post-affair dynamics, including the difference between trauma response and genuine remorse.
- Apply strategies from sex therapy and relational models to address mismatched libidos and communication breakdowns around sexual needs.
- Recognize the signs of emotional cutoff versus healthy differentiation and support clients in exploring safe re-engagement.
- Facilitate structured interventions and boundary-setting practices that help couples rebuild safety, accountability, and mutual empathy.
