The digital world is deeply woven into the daily lives of adolescents, shaping identity, relationships, and mental health in profound ways. While online spaces can offer connection and creativity, they also expose teens to risks such as cyberbullying, social comparison, unrealistic beauty standards, and blurred boundaries between public and private life. These experiences can contribute to anxiety, depression, shame, and disconnection from self.

This live Zoom training equips mental health professionals with the insight and tools needed to address the unique challenges of digital life in therapeutic work with teens. We will explore how social media, gaming, and other online platforms influence brain development, self-esteem, and peer dynamics. Drawing on traumainformed care, digital literacy, and adolescent development theory, participants will learn evidence-based strategies for helping teens set healthy boundaries, navigate online conflict, and build emotional resilience in a media-saturated world.

Through case examples, reflective exercises, and practical interventions, clinicians will develop tools for cocreating tech agreements, addressing body image distress, and supporting self-regulation in digital spaces. Participants will leave with a stronger framework for guiding adolescents and their families toward more mindful, intentional, and values-aligned engagement with technology.

Upon completion of this webinar, participants will be able to:

  • Identify how digital culture influences adolescent identity, peer dynamics, and mental health.
  • Describe the impact of social media on body image, comparison, and shame.
  • Apply therapeutic strategies to address boundary-setting, bullying, and self-regulation in digital spaces.
  • Develop tools for co-creating healthy tech agreements and emotional boundaries with adolescent clients.
