Human trafficking continues to rise in the United States, with the National Human Trafficking Hotline receiving nearly half a million contacts since its inception in 2007. Survivors often experience profound and complex psychological trauma, signaling the urgent need for trauma‑informed and culturally responsive mental health care. This foundational training addresses both labor trafficking and sex trafficking. Participants will deepen their understanding of the complex dynamics and nuances of human trafficking, learn to recognize signs, develop skills for assessing risk, and explore therapeutic approaches to effectively support survivors. This session is ideal for clinicians looking to sharpen their diagnostic lens, build confidence in differential diagnosis, and ensure ethical, informed care.

Upon completion of the webinar, participants will be able to:

  • Describe the core dynamics, definitions, and forms of human trafficking, including both labor trafficking and sex trafficking.
  • Identify the psychological and systemic impacts of trafficking on survivors.
  • Apply culturally responsive, trauma-informed, and evidence-based therapeutic strategies to support survivors.
