This introductory webinar offers psychotherapists a comprehensive overview of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), a mindfulness-based, values-driven approach to psychological flexibility and well-being. Rooted in behavioral science and relational frame theory, ACT helps clients shift their relationship with painful thoughts and emotions while taking committed action toward a meaningful life. Participants will be introduced to the six core processes of ACT—including acceptance, defusion, self-as-context, present moment awareness, values, and committed action—and learn how to apply them in a therapeutic context. The training will include experiential exercises, practical tools, and foundational strategies for integrating ACT into diverse clinical settings.
Upon completion of the webinar, participants will be able to:
- Describe the theoretical foundations and six core processes of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.
- Explain how ACT promotes psychological flexibility and supports values-based living.
- Apply at least two ACT techniques to help clients relate differently to distressing thoughts and emotions while moving toward meaningful goals.
