This webinar equips clinicians to navigate the unique psychological, emotional, and existential challenges that arise in work with aging clients and those facing end-of-life issues. Participants will explore the impact of aging on identity, autonomy, relationships, grief, and meaning-making, as well as how to support clients in processing loss, preparing for death, and finding dignity in later life. The training will also address caregiver dynamics, cultural attitudes toward aging and dying, and the therapist’s own countertransference. Emphasis will be placed on fostering presence, respect, and resilience throughout this delicate phase of life.
Upon completion of this webinar, participants will be able to:
- Identify common psychological and emotional themes that arise in therapy with aging clients and those approaching end-of-life.
- Describe culturally responsive and ethically sensitive approaches to supporting clients in navigating grief, loss, and mortality.
- Apply therapeutic strategies to facilitate meaning-making, emotional processing, and relational support during later-life transitions.
