This training offers clinicians an introduction to understanding and treating obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). Participants will learn about the core features of OCD, including obsessions, compulsions, and common symptom presentations across diverse populations. The session will highlight evidence-based treatment approaches, focusing on Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) as the gold-standard intervention, alongside Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) techniques. Attendees will gain practical tools to assess OCD, differentiate it from other disorders, and develop effective treatment plans. The goal of the training is for clinicians to deepen their understanding of how to support clients in managing OCD and reducing its impact on their daily lives. As such, it offers foundational knowledge and actionable strategies for working with clients who struggle with this severe mental illness.
Upon completion of this training, participants will be able to:
- Describe the diagnosis of OCD and DSM Criteria
- Explain the various treatment strategies for OCD
- Design a treatment plan for addressing OCD
