This webinar offers clinicians an introduction to understanding and treating codependency—a relational dynamic marked by enmeshment, people-pleasing, lack of boundaries, and a chronic focus on others at the expense of self. Often rooted in early attachment wounds or dysfunctional family systems, codependent patterns can interfere with clients’ ability to form healthy, autonomous relationships. Participants will explore the psychological underpinnings of codependency, how it shows up in clinical practice, and compassionate strategies for helping clients build self-worth, assertiveness, and emotional clarity. Emphasis will be placed on trauma-informed care and the integration of psychoeducation, boundary work, and inner child healing.
Upon completion of this webinar, participants will be able to:
- Define codependency and describe its developmental and relational origins.
- Identify common behavioral, emotional, and cognitive patterns associated with codependency.
- Apply at least two therapeutic strategies to help clients cultivate healthier boundaries, self-advocacy, and emotional autonomy.
