This is a reflective and skills-based webinar for clinicians interested in deepening their clinical practice through the lens of one of the most enduring spiritual tools in recovery and healing. This webinar explores the psychological depth of the Serenity Prayer’s three-fold guidance—acceptance, courage, and wisdom—and its relevance to therapeutic work across a range of presenting issues, including anxiety, grief, addiction, and life transitions. Drawing from evidence-based approaches such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and existential psychotherapy, participants will gain strategies for helping clients discern when to accept circumstances versus when to take empowered action, while fostering the internal wisdom to know the difference.
Upon completion of this webinar, participants will be able to:
- Analyze the therapeutic relevance of the Serenity Prayer’s core themes—acceptance, courage, and wisdom—in the context of client decision-making and emotional regulation.
- Summarize principles from ACT, DBT, or existential therapy to help clients balance radical acceptance with values-driven action.
- Identify how to facilitate client exploration of personal control, responsibility, and surrender using reflective exercises, metaphors, or experiential techniques.
