This training provides clinicians with a foundational understanding of couples counseling, equipping them with essential tools and strategies to support clients navigating relational challenges. Participants will explore the core principles of effective couples therapy, including communication enhancement, conflict resolution, and fostering emotional connection. The session introduces key theoretical frameworks, such as Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Imago Therapy, and the Gottman Method, alongside practical interventions that can be immediately applied in practice. Clinicians will develop skills to address common relational dynamics, identify systemic patterns, and support couples in building healthy, resilient partnerships.
Upon completion of this training, participants will be able to:
- Describe the foundations of couples counseling.
- Explain the differences between popular couples counseling theories such as Emotionally Focused Therapy, Imago Therapy, and the Gottman Method.
- Utilize interventions for assisting couples in developing communication skills and conflict management.
