Carl Jung’s concept of the “shadow” refers to the aspects of the self that are hidden, denied, or repressed—yet which profoundly influence thoughts, emotions, and behavior. This interactive and experiential webinar introduces psychotherapists to the theory and practice of working with shadow material in a therapeutic setting. This training explores the psychological origins of the shadow, the ways it manifests in clients’ lives, and how it intersects with trauma, projection, and relational patterns. Through discussion and guided reflective exercises, participants will learn how to help clients safely explore and integrate disowned aspects of themselves, fostering greater self-awareness, emotional balance, and authenticity.
Upon completion of this webinar, participants will be able to:
- Describe the Jungian concept of the shadow and its relevance to clinical work.
- Identify at least three signs or patterns that may indicate the presence of shadow material in a client’s presentation.
- Explain how to implement at least two therapeutic interventions to help clients engage with and integrate aspects of their shadow in a safe and supportive manner.
