Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) was originally developed to help people struggling with the symptoms of borderline personality disorder (BPD). Many people with BPD also have PTSD, and vice versa. Although people with PTSD and BPD have different symptoms, they share some of the same problems, such as difficulty managing emotions, interpersonal problems, and a high risk of impulsive behavior. In this training, we explore the origin of DBT and its application to working with clients who are diagnosed with the co-morbid conditions of BPD and PTSD or other trauma (sexual).
Learning Objectives:
Review the history, original purpose, and transition to other mental health disorders of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
Apply DBT skills in working with Borderline Personality Disorder
Adapt and apply DBT skills in working with Trauma/PTSD
Implementing skills through the use of case studies and technique practice
Course Format: Recorded Live Webinar with downloadable presentation slides and/or handouts, evaluation, and a required quiz. The learner is required to pass with a 70% or higher to achieve the CE certificate of completion. The learner is able to reset the test until a satisfactory score is achieved.
