Description
This training provides a framework for understanding the nature and derivation of pain. A special focus will be devoted to varying understandings of pain, options for assessing pain, and treatment options. Co-occurring, comorbid conditions will be discussed with an emphasis on at-risk populations who may experience chronic pain. Supports and strategies will be discussed aimed at improving quality of life and enhancing comfort for people living with chronic pain.
Upon completion of this training, participants will be able to:
- Articulate multiple understandings of pain and the derivation of pain.
- Describe chronic pain and its impact on clients.
- Explain different treatment options and strategies to support individuals living with chronic pain.
Social workers completing this course receive 2 Clinical asynchronous continuing education credits.
For other board approvals, this course qualifies for 2 hours of Clinical, Evidence-Based Practices, and General Skill Building continuing education training.
