Self-Care Strategies for Neurodivergent Clients (3HR)

$45.00

Self-care is a vital practice for everyone, but it holds particular significance for neurodivergent clients who often face unique challenges. These individuals (who may be autistic or have ADHD, for example) may experience heightened sensory sensitivities, emotional fluctuations, and social difficulties, making traditional self-care routines less effective. Therefore, tailored strategies are essential in addressing their specific needs. Self-care for neurodivergent clients focuses on personalization and flexibility, enabling our clients to explore strategies that resonate with their unique experiences and foster overall well-being.

In this training, we will examine the types of self-care strategies that are most appropriate and effective for our neurodivergent clients, as well as explore how to best integrate these practices into sessions.

Upon completion of this training participants will be able to:

  • Describe why neurodiversity must be taken into account when considering self-care strategies for clients
  • Defining neurodiversity
  • Categories of neurodiversity
  • Identify a wide range of self-care strategies that are appropriate to use with neuro-divergent clients
  • Why traditional self-care strategies may not work for neurodivergent clients
  • Types of appropriate strategies
  • Design self-care strategies for neurodiverse clients
  • Using clinician creativity to create appropriate self-care strategies for clients
  • Collaboration with clients regarding resonant self-care strategies
