The brain we have been given is an amazing piece of technology, however, it was built to address problems of surviving the harsh conditions of the past. This can lead to brain functions such as harsh self-deprecating thoughts, rumination, acute anxiety, and mistrust. Fortunately, mammals have also been built with a brain that is designed to create affinity, tribe, and connection. Compassion Focused Therapy helps therapists redirect clients to the mammalian care system by using skills and tools. In this webinar, we will look at the data and brain science of CFT, then discuss how it works, and finally practice some fun techniques used in this treatment.

Stacy Blankenship is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and an intensively trained in Dialectical Behavioral Therapist completing her training at The Linehan Institute in 2015. Her passion to empower others is enhanced by more than ten years of experience working with individuals and groups in a variety of therapeutic settings. Stacy is adept at matching various forms of clinical interventions to best meet the needs of each individual.
In her current professional capacity, Stacy designs and teaches group therapy sessions for people attending the IOP and PHP programs, administers clinical assessments, conducts individual and family therapy sessions, and supervises interns. She has a wide range of knowledge and interests to supplement her clinical approach. Stacy is proficient in teaching Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Illness Management Recovery, Wellness Recovery Action Planning, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Mindful Self-Compassion, Positive Psychology, and Emotional Agility techniques. Stacy has thorough knowledge of crisis management skills and has a certification in Critical Incident Stress Management.
