An Introduction to Narrative Therapy and the Hero’s Journey: Everyone Has a Story (6HR)

$88.00

Categories: , ,

In this training, we will explore the transformative power of storytelling as a therapeutic tool, examining the principles of narrative therapy and the archetypal Hero’s Journey framework. Through a blend of theory and practical exercises, you will learn how to empower clients to reframe their life stories, identify personal strengths, and foster resilience in the face of adversity.

During this training, I will guide us through the process of recognizing and mapping out narrative patterns that connect with clients’ unique journeys, thereby allowing us as clinicians to facilitate conversations that highlight hope, agency, and self-discovery. By integrating Joseph Campbell’s Hero’s Journey with narrative therapy techniques, this training emphasizes the universal nature of human experiences and the potential for posttraumatic growth. You will gain valuable skills to support clients in reclaiming their stories, transforming their challenges into sources of strength, and embracing their roles as the heroes of their own lives.

Upon completion of this training participants will be able to:

  • Define “narrative therapy”
  • Describe the hero’s journey and its connection with narrative therapy
  • Demonstrate how to incorporate narrative therapy and the hero’s journey into clinical practice
  • Explain the connections between the hero’s journey and posttraumatic growth
  • Identify at least five narrative therapy therapeutic interventions
  • Use the Hero’s Journey to assist a client in changing their relationship with their mental health struggles
