Categories: ,

This course provides an introduction to Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT), an evidence-based, empirically validated treatment approach for working with couple distress. EFT uses an attachment framework and outlines key relationship dances and stances reinforcing relationship stuckness. It also provides a map that clinicians can use when working with couples to identify these dances and how to employ interventions that shift interactional cycles.  The goal is to facilitate couple bonding and create lasting change. Participants will learn the basics of this model and identify how to practice mapping a relationship dance.

Upon completion of this training participants will be able to:

  • Upon completion of the course, participants will be able to:
  • Name steps and stages in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy.
  • Recognize key attachment patterns that influence relationship stuckness.
  • Demonstrate how to map basic relationship dances.

Social workers completing this course receive 1.5 Clinical asynchronous continuing education credits.

For other board approvals, this course qualifies for 1.5 hours of Clinical continuing education training.
