Helping professionals demonstrate perseverance, resourcefulness, and dedication to serving clients and communities. Being a helping professional can have a direct impact on the well-being and mental health of providers in this field. In this training learners will discover the elements of burnout and compassion fatigue. The concept of trauma stewardship will be the theme throughout, as we explore proven methods for managing the stress, burnout, and compassion fatigue that many helpers experience throughout their career.

Upon completion of this training participants will be able to:

  • Explain the dynamics of burnout, compassion fatigue, and vicarious trauma.
  • Describe and apply at least five self-care strategies to promote trauma stewardship.
  • Identify at least two ways that a clinician can enhance their well-being and self-care.

Social workers completing this course receive 2 General Skill Building asynchronous continuing education credits.

For other board approvals, this course qualifies for 2 hours of General Skill Building continuing education training.
