This course explores the ethical, emotional, and practical dimensions of terminating therapeutic relationships and navigating significant transitions in clinical work. This workshop will examine best practices for planned and unplanned endings, ethical considerations in managing client dependency, therapist departures, and client transitions to new providers. You will learn how to develop strategies for facilitating ethical and compassionate closures that honor therapeutic progress, minimize harm, and uphold professional integrity.

Upon completion of this training, participants will be able to:

  • Identify different types of endings
  • Identify different types of transitions
  • Implement ethical ways to navigating endings and transitions

Social workers completing this course receive 2 Ethics asynchronous continuing education credits.
