Obsessive Compulsive Disorder is a unique diagnosis that requires a specialized approach. Having knowledge of this disorder’s characteristics and evidenced-based treatment approaches is essential to supporting clients who have OCD. This webinar will review the diagnostic criteria for OCD, paying special attention to the main characteristics of obsessions and compulsions. Learners will discover assessment procedures that elicit core symptomology. CBT and ERP will be presented as the preferred, evidenced-based approaches to treating this disorder and learners will define proper treatment approaches and interventions.

Upon completion of this training participants will be able to

  • Demonstrate an understanding of the fundamentals of Obsessive-Compulsive disorder and identify key symptomology through a review of the DSM-5-TR criteria.
  • Differentiate between obsessions and compulsions of the disorder and show examples of how each manifests with OCD.
  • Discover methods of engaging clients in OCD treatment.
  • Formulate appropriate intervention plans for evidence-based treatment.
  • Evaluate and implement evidence-based treatment methods, such as CBT and ERP.
  • Develop increased confidence and skill in supporting clients with OCD.

Social workers completing this course receive 6 Clinical asynchronous continuing education credits.
