Course Description

The goal of this 2-hour training is to is to equip clinical supervisors in mental health with the skills and knowledge to foster a collaborative supervisory relationship that values and integrates supervisee perspectives. Participants will learn strategies to create an open and supportive environment that enhances professional development and improves client care.

Upon completion of this training participants will be able to:

Understand the collaborative supervision model
Integrate supervisee perspectives into supervision
Implement strategies for effective collaborative supervision

Social workers completing this course receive 2 General skill building asynchronous continuing education credits.

For other board approvals, this course qualifies for 2 hours of General skill building continuing education training.

Course Format

Recorded Live Webinar with downloadable presentation slides and/or handouts, evaluation, and a required quiz. The learner is required to pass with a 70% or higher to achieve the CE certificate of completion. The learner is able to reset the test until a satisfactory score is achieved. CE Training Workshops, LLC, provider #1770, is approved as an ACE provider to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Meet Your Facilitator

Ericka Cables, Ph.D., LPC, NCC, ACS, is a licensed professional counselor and wellness consultant. She tailors her approach to address the unique wellness needs and cultural nuances of each individual and organization.

Through her clinical supervision, she uses supervision models that use relational, multicultural, and trauma-informed lenses with theoretical grounding in Person-Centered and Relational Cultural Therapies. She is trained in EMDR, TF-CBT, and has participated in several Train-the-Trainer learning sessions to bolster her professional growth. In conjunction with being a clinical supervisor and wellness consultant, she teaches master-level counselor interns.

Introduction
Objective 1 – Define what supervision is and how to become a competent supervisor.
- Define clinical supervision.
- Define competency based clinical supervision.
- Describe the three key supervisory roles and effectively managing the different types of supervisees.
Objective 2 – Implement survey feedback from supervisees regarding their concerns about ineffective supervision.
- Top concerns of graduate students.
- Top concerns today.
- Statistics of supervisees working without adequate supervision.
Objective 3 – Address stages from the Leaning Cycle of performance, observation, reflection, feedback/evaluation, and planning.
- Define the Cycle Path of learning and development.
- Define the learning cycle.
- Discuss how the parts of the Learning Cycle support a supervisee achieving clinical competency.
Objective 4 – Apply the Learning Cycle to a new supervisee in a case study.
- Define a level-one counselor
- Identify how the Cycles apply to the case study.
- Identify how the Elements to Consider apply to the case study.
Objective 5 – Differentiate myths vs. facts of the supervisor’s perceptions.
- Identify the top ten supervision myths.
- Apply them in a case study.
- Discuss the case study.
