Assessing and Treating Self-Harm (3HR)
Self-harming behaviors can be common coping strategy used by some clients to manage emotional dysregulation and distress. Discover myths and facts about self-harm and explore vulnerabilities that can lead to an increased risk of self-harm. This webinar will define concepts such as non-suicidal self-injury and dispel common myths about self-injury and harm. Discussion will highlight how to assess, safety plan, and treat self-harm. Learners will feel more confident in being skillful with implementing targeted clinical approaches through case studies.
Upon completion of this training participants will be able to:
- Identify risk factors and possible signs of non-suicidal self-injurious behavior in children and adolescents.
- Explain the appropriate steps to assess whether an individual is engaging in non-suicidal self-injurious behavior.
- Summarize the essential interventions to implement based on the level of identified risk.
Social workers completing this course receive 3 Clinical asynchronous continuing education credits.
For other board approvals, this course qualifies for 3 hours of Clinical continuing education training.
