Time Management in Session Strategies and Ethical Considerations (2HR)

This practical and thought-provoking training is designed to help clinicians navigate the often-overlooked challenges of managing time effectively within clinical sessions. Whether struggling with clients who habitually go over time, feeling pressure to cover too much in limited minutes, or managing transitions and closures with care, clinicians frequently face time-related dilemmas that impact therapeutic outcomes and professional boundaries. This webinar offers actionable strategies for enhancing time awareness, maintaining therapeutic pacing, and setting clear boundaries—while also examining the ethical implications of time mismanagement, including issues related to equity, consent, and burnout. Participants will leave with tools to foster both clinical presence and time-bound structure, in service of deeper and more sustainable therapeutic work.

Upon completion of this training, participants will be able to:

  • Identify common time-related challenges that arise in psychotherapy sessions and their potential impact on therapeutic effectiveness and boundaries.
  • Apply at least three concrete strategies to manage time more effectively within sessions, including tools for pacing, transitions, and respectful closure.
  • Analyze ethical considerations related to time management, including informed consent, fairness across clients, and therapist self-care.
