Description
Approximately one in twelve people will have PTSD at some point in their life. Knowing how to support clients when they are triggered by a past trauma is an imperative skill. We will address how to assess trauma histories and symptoms and identify indicators of a client’s trauma response. Participants will gain competency and confidence in supporting clients with PTSD with concrete, effective strategies for addressing dissociation, freeze, collapse, fight, or flight.
Upon completion of this training, participants will be able to:
- Differentiate freeze from collapse in trauma responses.
- Implement assessment tools for PTSD.
- Practice strategies to address dissociation, collapse, and freeze.
- Contrast strategies for containment and for discharge.
This course qualifies for 2 CE hours of Evidence-Based Practices, General Skill Building, and Trauma training.
